A JELLYFISH with 5m long tentacles has been pulled from Paradise Point waters after a dog nearly became entangled with it metres from where children swim. The jellyfish was brown on top and about 30cm long across the top, with thin tentacles. Stinger expert, Associate Professor Jamie Seymour from James Cook University, said the jellyfish was a cyanea capillata, commonly called ‘lion’s mane jelly’ or ’snottie’. They are usually found in deep water, well offshore.

A video has emerged of a group of fishermen in the Northern Territory fighting off a crocodile who tried to steal a shark they caught. The footage, posted on YouTube last month by the Cape Don Barramundi Fishing Lodge, shows one of the men on a boat struggling with the shark on the end of his line.
