TWO hammerhead sharks have been spotted at Rainbow Bay

The pair of 2m sharks were spotted by the Gold Coast City Council’s new Lifeguards Marine Watch aerial-surveillance aircrafts. The planes circled the pair about 60m from the water to confirm their suspicions, then notified the lifeguard towers.

Kite Surfer Attacked by Pack of Sharks

A Florida man was killed by sharks in a rare fatal attack this afternoon in the waters off Stuart Florida. Stephen Howard Schafer, 38, of Stuart was kite surfing south of Stuart Beach about 4:15 p.m.

When the sharks attacked him, according to Bureau Chief Doug Killane of Martin County Fire-Rescue and Martin County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rhonda Irons. A lifeguard through his binoculars spotted the man floating about a quarter-mile offshore in an unguarded stretch of ocean, Irons said. The lifeguard paddled to him on a rescue board, pulled the man away from the sharks and carried him back to shore.

"I’ve been here 25 years," McKinley said. "To my knowledge, this is the first shark-related fatality we’ve seen."

A HORRIFIED Twitter user tweeted the moment a tourist was killed in the jaws of a "gigantic shark" in a South African holiday spot.

Gregg Coppen watched as Lloyd Skinner was savaged in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday (local time) tweeting: "Holy _____ We just saw a gigantic shark eat what looked like a person in front of our house…"

He added: "That shark was huge. Like dinosaur huge."

"We were swimming only about 15m away from the guy. We were at about chest depth and he was a little deeper….I never want to experience this again. I’m going to block it out of my mind.”

Hammerhead Shark Prowling Gold Coast Beach

A HAMMERHEAD was one of several sharks spotted off the Gold Coast today. Surf lifesavers said the shark, which was just under 2m long, was seen swimming about 100m off the beach around Surfers Paradise about 12.45pm. Lifesavers used a Waverunner to scare the hammerhead off.. 15 minutes later, there was a report at least two sharks were seen off the beach near Thirteenth Avenue, Palm Beach, about 1pm.
