There were easily more than a hundred in the water off Reef Road Thursday morning… Hammerheads along with spinners, reef, and bull sharks are very common off south Florida this time of year.&#160; They follow schools of migrating fish along the Florida coastline.</p>

<p>When the sharks attacked him, according to Bureau Chief Doug Killane of Martin County Fire-Rescue and Martin County Sheriff&#8217;s Office spokeswoman Rhonda Irons. A lifeguard through his binoculars spotted the man floating about a quarter-mile offshore in an unguarded stretch of ocean, Irons said. The lifeguard paddled to him on a rescue board, pulled the man away from the sharks and carried him back to shore.</p>

<p>A HAMMERHEAD was one of several sharks spotted off the Gold Coast today. Surf lifesavers said the shark, which was just under 2m long, was seen swimming about 100m off the beach around Surfers Paradise about 12.45pm. Lifesavers used a Waverunner to scare the hammerhead off.. 15 minutes later, there was a report at least two sharks were seen off the beach near Thirteenth Avenue, Palm Beach, about 1pm.</p>
